Embedded SD Standard
Embedded SD standard simplifies system engineering by leverage well-known SD standards, allowing all removable, embedded storage devices and input/output (I/O) peripherals to utilize the same common interface. Embedded SD extends the SD interface to embedded storage devices that utilize the SD standard bus interface and integrate one or more flash memory types and an SD memory controller in a single package.
Embedded SD features low power consumption and a small form factor, along with integrated flash management. This allows the device to provide mass data storage while isolating the host from the intricacies of flash management. Embedded SD devices area well-suited for mobile handsets, PDAs, A/V, DSC, DVR and other electronic devices.
This standard defines the Embedded SD specification to provide common Embedded SD-based products available from multiple manufacturers.
